THIS ARCHIVE IS US, 2022–26

Braille paper, oil, acrylic, pine, LED, plastic

Variable dimensions

This Archive Is Us transforms archival texts into contemporary objects that explore history as something lived rather than inherited. Created from Braille pages of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Black Leaders in the Civil Rights Movement by Glenda Armand, the works merge language, color, light, and touch into layered compositions that resist invisibility and assert accessibility as an artistic language. Rather than presenting archives as distant or static, the series positions them as immediate, embodied, and personal—living spaces where race, disability, identity, and belonging continually intersect. Through material and light, the work asks how history can be seen, touched, and experienced.
