With a piano and a violin it began! White sheet music turned to color and the bass clef sounded...I paused. I listened and then I started again. As the chosen artist to create the mural Installation at The Temple for Performing Arts in celebration of The Des Moines Symphony Academy's 15th Anniversary, I decided to create music!
Starting with two 48" x 60" canvases, the stage was set. The lights dimmed over coated sheet music, white washed with gesso, modge podge and gessoed again.
Each instrument was drawn out in oil paint to the sound of Joseph Haydn Sonaten II and a bold symphony of jewel tones abound. Ultramarine blue, Alizarin crimson, Cadmium red and yellow, Burnt sienna, Titanium white and Ivory black...the movement ended. XO!
