This original oil painting by Jill Wells is from the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 series, a group of paintings on the Braille pages of the ADA of 1990, which emphasizes and explores the history of marginalized communities, accessibility, civil rights legislation, and transformation. The series draws inspiration from Wells’ public mural, Be The Change, with Disability Rights Iowa, made by the artist during the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020. Dark turning to light across the paper's surface transforms the rich color wash into an ombre effect.
