HELD WITHIN MANY, 2026
Site-specific installation
ChildServe
Des Moines, Iowa, USA
Oil, acrylic, pine, Braille paper, handmade seed paper
12 panels
Created for ChildServe's new pediatric healthcare campus, Held Within Many transforms a thirty-foot corridor into an immersive passage of color, light, and collective care. Twelve gradient panels center individual butterflies surrounded by many others, reflecting the relationship between personal resilience and community support. Braille butterflies made from pages of How Caterpillars Turn into Butterflies by Jill Bailey and handmade seed-paper butterflies extend themes of growth, accessibility, and transformation. The installation considers how architecture, sensory experience, and material language can reshape the ways spaces are remembered and inhabited.
